Hillcrest Wind Energy

Ewan and Elspeth MacKinnon have recently submitted a planning application for two medium sized wind turbines at Hillcrest, Balephetrish, Isle of Tiree

This website gives an outline of the project and an opportunity to see how the turbines will look in the landscape of Tiree.

The Project

The proposed location of the two wind turbines is 400m north east of Hillcrest. They will be Enercon type E330-33, a smaller version of the machine that is shortly to be built for the community project at Ruaig. The turbines will stand on a 44m tower, with a rotor diameter of 33m. The generating capacity of each is 300kW and the electricity generated will be supplied to the local Grid.
